the private lives of pippa lee

the boy was very happy today because i got another offer from work for a couple of film festival tickets. the timing was much more to my liking (earlier) and the venue was also preferable (closer) so i asked the boy if he wanted to go and he said yes! we met in front of roy thompson hall, 15 minutes before the film. the movie was called "the private lives of pippa lee" and it didn't look too interesting but it was only a 98 minute film so i figured what the heck.

we were seated in the mezzanine area, directly in front of the screen, but we were a little high up. the film festival ceo (?) came out to speak with us and introduced the director, rebecca miller. rebecca thanked some people and introduced two actors who were there with her: keanu reeves and robin wright penn. keanu said a few words - he had his scruffy look on. robin didn't say anything but she looked incredible! then it was time for the film.

it turned out to be better than expected - the acting was wonderful for the most part, the storyline was interesting, and there were some really funny and surprising moments. i enjoyed the movie. when it was finished, the spotlights came on and rebecca, robin, and keanu were sitting in the section to the immediate left of us on the mezzanine level.

later, when we got home, i read up a bit on the movie and the actors... robin wright played buttercup in the princess bride! if i were better at recognizing the faces of stars, i probably would have noticed but of course i didn't because i suck at that. robin is so slender and graceful. she's one of those women i aspire to look like when i'm that age... except i won't be caucasian and hopefully i won't be blond.
