one day a week

today, i had "brand camp" - basically an all-day, off-site workshop on activating our company's brand. we were finished at around 4:30 p.m. so that left a lot of time for me to putt about, doing things that i'm otherwise too tired to do when i get off work at 5 p.m.

first i took the subway to eaton centre (our session was at yonge and sheppard). i was supposed to run an errand but of course i forgot all about it so i drew a blank when i got off the subway. i only went to one store - h&m. i bought a dress for work and a matching set of hat and fingerless gloves... you know, those wrist/forearm warmers that are "in" these days. i actually have a couple pairs already but i really like the colour of these. i figured i can wear them if i still want to take photos outdoors once the weather turns chilly. the hat is a floppy knitted thing that i think makes me look more artistic.

i dropped off my purchases at tinkle and headed to sobeys. i've been meaning to get back into cooking so i bought a bunch of groceries and came home to make a deconstructed shepherd's pie. the boy will love it! this is only my second time cooking for him since we got married over a month ago. i've been a lazy wife. i had just finished eating and was catching up on some personal e-mails when i had an epiphany.

the epipany was this: i have been neglecting tinkle. he's a mess. he's dirty in places. he's been not getting any much needed love. so i've decided that i am going to dedicate one day a week to domestic duties. i haven't chosen a day yet but it will likely be a monday or tuesday when there is not much else going on.

a while ago, in the spirit of creative thursday, i had decided that i was going to dedicate one day for creative endeavours - also a corollery to my art space that has yet to be set up. but two dedicated days a week for (1) domestic duties and (2) creative endeavours is too much - especially when the boy and i have already chosen friday to be our "lazy day". so i'm going to combine the two and have a domestic / creative day... one day a week. hopefully, after a few weeks, tinkle will be in such a state of cleanliness that there will be more time for creativity.

i'd prefer there to be no distractions that day - i.e. no tv - but i will have to negotiate with the boy first as tv is to the boy like water is to humankind. although i would like him to help out with the domestic duties, we tend to cuddle for hours when we are together, so perhaps my productivity would be better served if i suggest that my domestic / creative day be his brotherly bonding day with the starfish.
