asia - day 19 - o how i love tai o!

this was definitely one of my favourite days on our honeymoon. we got to eat great food, take in some beautiful scenery, visit an old fishing village, AND my photos turned out nicely to boot! it's like the stars were aligned. first, vince and i headed for dim sum.




then to the ngong ping cable cars.

then to the nearby po lin monastery with giant incense! i'm not crazy about this photo but i wanted to show the huge incense.




next we headed to tai o - a small fishing village just a short bus ride away...




... but a world apart. i loved the slow charm of the village, the familiar smell of salted fish, the chubby cats basking in the sun, the tanned and wrinkled fishermen, the houses on stilts, the colourful boats, the stillness of the water, the quaint meandering alleyways, the whimsical knickknacks, and the dramatic mountain scenery.















when we got to the end of the village, there was a sign for the pavilion so we decided to check it out.

and eventually reached the pavilion. yes, this is all that was there. i thought the view would be spectacular over the edge of the railing but we actually didn't see anything too different.



on our way back, however, the light was lovely so i'm really glad we took the detour.






we were famished after our trip so we headed straight for a restaurant for FOOD!



then we treated ourselves to a selection of macarons.



we wanted a little something more so we headed to honeymoon dessert - i ordered some mango and coconut milk deliciousness and vince ordered a stinky durian concoction. oh man it stank - peee-yooo!
