photowalk - rosedale

the boy and i had plans to go to a photo lecture at the distillery district last week. so i lugged my camera to work with me just in case i needed it. desperately wanting a break during lunch, i went on a mini photowalk in the rosedale area. i went to a nearby park, which was just lovely, but it reminded me a little too much of the recent photowalk to queen west.



i didn't find too much to photograph but there are some quaint little shops lining yonge street that had some knick knacks displayed outdoors.



then i happened upon a residential area near the summerhill lcbo that had simply wonderful dead foliage and unusual outdoor planter arrangements. i hit the jackpot! i love to photograph little details and such.





after spending quite a ridiculous amount of time with the dead branches, i headed back to work. my camera came in quite handy as i photographed our late afternoon corporate event at the toronto board of trade. this included a wine tasting and we tasted the following wines:

1. Graham Beck Chardonnay Viognier 2009
2. Beringer Napa Valley Chardonnay 2007
3. Beringer Napa Valley Merlot 2005
4. Cline Cellars Zinfandel 2007

When the event concluded, it was time to meet the boy to head over to distillery district.



i was full from the event but the boy had a giant roast beef sandwich from brick street bakery and i managed to force down a scone (ok, i didn't quite have to force it).



we took a few moody photos outside pikto before heading inside.



then it was time for the lecture. we went to see graham french's talk on seeing in black and white. he was half an hour late but we were entertained by louis, the organizer, who was a fountain of knowledge about equipment and workflow. when graham arrived, we all settled down for a lovely evening of photography talk. highly interesting, informative, and entertaining. as a bonus, the boy and i also decided on the photobooks that will house our wedding photos!
