photowalk - u of t - part 1

before our photo expedition, we met at poutini's house of poutine because there was a photo exhibit at the department that i wanted to check out. plus the designer had spotted a review of pouini's a few months ago and we've been meaning to go. poutini's uses biodegradable sugarcane containers and biodegradable cornstarch forks - i loved the forks!

we ate the poutine on some steps outside. the poutine was great. the gravy, fries, curds... all yum! it was a nice, healthy portion too. although healthy is not exactly synonymous with poutine. i prefer the poutine much more than smoke's. the fries are better, the curds are squeakier, but, above all, the gravy is much much more delicious. it's not at all gelatinous. as we were finishing up, a bee went into my drink. thank goodness i was nearly done. and thank goodness i checked inside first.

after lunch, we meandered over to the exhibit. we walked up beaconsfield and came upon a couple of yard sales. titi bought a belt and a banana holder at the first one. i liked the sequined aldo shoes but they were too big.

at the second yard sale, i spied a transformer. it turned out to be optimus prime. the boy played with it for a long time and ended up snapping it up when the owner quoted a price of $3. he then set about transforming it into a truck.

we got to the exhibit and spent quite a bit of time chatting with the person at the studio about the photos and the last charlie burger event. here's a little about the exhibit we saw:

Thirty in Twenty is a photo exhibit of shots taken during Toni and Ria Harting's 1973 trip to France, eating in as many Michelin rated three star restaurants as possible in three weeks. "Thirty" refers to the combined total stars consumed in twenty days.

it was neat because the menus were written on the wall and there were a few of the actual menus from michelin star restaurants. maxim's menu was beautiful. the photos in the exhibit weren't all that great because the photographer wanted to be discrete but i thought the concept was amazing. i really really enjoyed the exhibit. when we were ready to go, we found the boy outside finishing up the transformation.

we walked along dundas street, i picked up a slushie, and then we stopped at nova vera for portuguese custard tarts. i had just a bite because i was still so full.

after the tarts, the boy told me that optimus prime wanted to park in my bag. so i changed to my 100 lens (i had previously been using my 50 lens) to make some room for the toy. that's when my images became bluuuurry. but more on that later.
