asia - day 11 - boredom

this was a boring, boring day. a lot of waiting around. of doing nothing. of sitting, sleeping, eating. we arrived at the port terminal early. very early. i look pretty happy in this empty terminal. if only i knew the depth of boredom that was in store for us.

after we got our tickets, we had to have our temperature checked by the ferry's doctor. i have been nervous about this since i read this little caveat on the ferry's website back in toronto when we were planning this trip. i was so worried that we would be too warm and not make the boat. thankfully, we both got through!

a short vid of the waiting room filling up. it never filled up to the extent that i imagined but i wanted to test out youtube for hosting my slideshows so here it is anyway.

finally, it was time to board!

our room was nothing exciting. 8 bunk beds but luckily only 4 of us in the room. the older chinese couple we were sharing with were assigned the beds near the door and we got the beds by the porthole. we were impressed with how clean everything was until i spied a cockroach by the boy's feet. then we were suitably disgusted. photos of the room will follow in a future blog post.

there was literally nothing to do on the ferry. so we went to the "restaurant", ate, played cards, and took photos.

eventually, we made our way out on deck and had a look around.

then the boy played DS and had a nap so i read and wished i had brought my DS.

it was a pretty ferry ride but the view didn't change much during the 48 hours that we were on board. that's right, forty-eight hours.
