asia - day 9 - photo farm

we ate a breakfast of japanese style "7-11" food. the boy got a really good set that contained a little bit of everything.



afterwards, we checked out of our tiny hotel room.



today was one of my favourite days of our honeymoon - if not my absolute favourite. we went to visit the open air museum of old japanese farm houses. yes, you heard right. i'm not sure what i liked about it so much - probably the many many photo opportunities. there was just something about the day that tickled me. on second thought, maybe it's open air museums that i love (i'm not a big fan of regular museums) - i ADORED the rodin museum in paris, also open air.



we walked through hattori ryokuchi park and saw so many families enjoying their sunday together. it was a truly beautiful day.




finally, we made our way to the farm houses and i literally took hundreds of photos.

















after the open air museum, we went to have a bite. there was a great japanese restaurant at the train station of all places! the waiter did not speak any english and the menus had no photos so we brought him outside the restaurant to order. we pointed at the plastic food. he nodded and we smiled. everything was delicious. i had soba noodles, japanese fried rice, and tempura. the boy had... yes, curry again!



as we headed back to the hotel, we walked so much that the boy broke his flip flop! we popped into one of the many many stores and bought him a pair of converse so he could walk properly again.



afterwards, we went back to the hotel and headed on the train to kobe. an amazing thing happened when we got there. we were walking from the train station to our hotel when we - yes - got lost again. we popped into a convenience store to ask for directions. a japanese man overheard us and offered to drive us to the hotel. we declined but he insisted and he even grabbed our bags for us. thanks to him, we made it to our hotel safe and sound... and quickly too!
