asia - day 2 - tokyo tower
vince and i decided to treat ourselves for our first 3 nights in asia so we booked a room at the prince, park tower tokyo. we got a lovely room on the 31st floor with an amazing view of the tokyo tower. this little orange guy was modeled after the eiffel tower.

we poked and prodded at everything in our room. we were happy we had access to a nespresso machine. i was delighted to find toothbrushes and toothpaste in the bathroom... little did i know that all the hotels we booked would provide the same type of toiletries... replaced daily. such a waste - who uses a new toothbrush every day?
then we headed out in search of food. armed with a free tourist booklet, a DK eyewitness travel book on japan, and a couple of noodle house recommendations from the concierge, we set out to look for udon. it was a long and confusing journey. even longer because we kept stopping to take photos.

we stumbled upon the right area - roppongi - but were mystified by the many buildings and lack of street signs and restaurant names. how the heck would we find the famous curry udon recommended by our concierge? [it looks like i superimposed vince into the photo below but i swear he was there.]
we were nearly lured by our growling stomaches to a competing eatery but i couldn't bring myself to do it. i was on a mission. odd because i don't usually trust concierge or travel book recommendations. eventually, we found the right place! look how pleased i look despite the major bags under my eyes.
the curry udon was vurry delicious! my oh my, the curry soup (actually the thickness of a buttery sauce) was out of this world. the udon was slurpingly delicious... if only i knew how to slurp. i could hear people around me slurping like pros. even vince was slurping like i've never heard him slurp before. every time i tried, i kept burning myself and getting sauce all over my face. i didn't want to get a noodle in the eye so i ate my curry udon like a lady, a canadian lady, but still enjoyed every bite. the noodles were served with a little side dish of sprouted brown rice and pickled ginger.
after dinner, we made our way back to the hotel and i had to take a photo of this building. i love the fancy exterior living green wall panels.
