the great escape

the boy and i went to the ex today with my sisters and one of their friends. we brought our dslrs and went snap-happy. the young'uns thought we looked like tourists. i took 300+ photos!






the boy changed to the 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 tamron lens for the 40d's first trip out.



pretty much the first thing we did when we got to the ex was eat. the boy and i shared a traditional poutine.



we ate outside and, in between bites, i snapped away.




then we headed to the buildings to do some shopping. we were looking for the stitches outlet but i led us to the better living centre, not remembering that it had moved to the direct energy centre last year. oops, it was a long detour.



when we got to the direct energy centre, we stopped to watch sandscapes making giant sand sculptures.



then we stopped to have our photos taken by "all you need is cheese".



after a quick shopping trip at stitches, we went to see the superdogs show. this is currently my favourite dog - a big and fluffy old english sheepdog. it reminds me of my childhood, although i have no idea why. against my better judgement, i pet him and pet him and pet him. i took his front left paw in my hand and his pads were so big and warm. this dog, puff daddy, weighs 86 pounds. sure enough, i almost immediately started getting allergies.



after the dog show, we made our second trip to the food building. the boy and i each had a buffalo burger and shared a small poutine and a drink. my sisters and their friend had subway subs and yogen fruz.




when we finished eating, we went to the grand illusion and escape artist show. it was getting chilly so we had to bundle up. to layer up and stay warm, my sister and i started putting on clothes that we had just bought at stitches.




the ridgeway & johnson show was better than expected... it was amazing! after the great escape, the boy went to get krista johnson's autograph. she was very nice and told him that she hasn't been feeling well since she's been in toronto so the escape was difficult. he asked if she's ever had to be pulled out and she said twice. the boy was starstruck!



we shopped around a little more after the show - we bought two sweepo brooms - and then it was time for my sisters to go home. we took them to the streetcar, we went back to the direct energy centre to buy a cactus and a steam iron, and then we went home.
