my new pal
i started my new job today! my favourite things so far:
- entering a lovely courtyard to start my day
- feeling important and productive in my little office
- opening and half-closing my japanese style sliding door
- grabbing print jobs from robbie* without lifting a cheek
- having access to a kitchen stocked with free goodies
- drinking from mugs that are magically washed overnight
- using clothlike paper towels in our fancy onesy bathroom
- not getting a thousand useless e-mails a day
- working with people who make decisions FAST
- being able to count all my coworkers on my fingers and toes
*my cute laser printer: robbie is efficient and steadfast, a most dependable fella.
some things that i like right now but may not when the novelty wears off:
- walking 55 minutes there and 45 minutes back
- being busy
- wearing suits
- attending planning meetings for the entire monday a.m.
a few things that will take getting used to:
- watching my monitor rattle when people walk by
- getting home at 6 p.m. (where did the day go?)
- not having a cubie bulletin board surface to tack up papers
but i unknowingly resolved one issue even before i started work! i bought a couple of magnetic boards on a whim yesterday. they will come in handy when i eventually bring them to work and prop them up against my wall to hold my notes and such. even better, they will fit right in with the japanese sliding door and upcoming japanese holiday event.
