domestic week

i've been feeling very stressed lately. i seem to fall into a vicious cycle every few years: when i'm bored with life, i overcompensate by setting too many new things into motion... then i become too busy and wonder how i got into the mess in the first place... when i've cleared it all from my life, i'm suddenly bored again. woe is me.

work, school, part-time work, looking for work, wedding plans, and a general state of messiness and unfinished projects at home have caused me to want to have a nervous breakdown. i have too much on my plate. fortunately, when this happens, i don't curl myself into a little ball and watch the world spin around me. instead, i try to tackle it all at once, vowing never to be this busy again.

cooking has helped me to relieve stress. i find it very soothing, not just to eat, but to cook. this has thus been a very domestic week. i feel productive in the kitchen, even though i've only cooked a couple of times. first i made aloo gobi with my giant cauliflower (tasty fella). now i'm making lasagna and the periodic whurring of my convection oven takes my mind off an impending telephone interview that might actually be postponed.

oh my, i still have to prepare for half a teaching session. let me think instead about what to do with the other half of my cauliflower. let me roast him in the oven.

he'll gladly sauna
with his dear friend lasagna -
it is hot in there.
